In a recent case, we were informed that a 14 year old girl who ACS has placed at the ACS Children's Center in Manhattan, has no supervision and is allowed to wander the streets until late into the night. When confronted, a high ranking ACS official advised us that " no force is used to force children to stay. they must want to stay." Thus children can come and go as they please and ACS offers no help for parents looking for supervision. This is the type of policy that is destroying families in the ACS system. If a parent allowed their 14 year old child to stay out all night and consume alcohol and do drugs, they would be charged with neglect. ACS is failing our children.
