THE SOFT TACTICS AND LIES OF AN ACS WORKER

ACS workers are trained to obtain cooperation from parents. In this endeavor, they have what are called hard and soft tactics. One of the most effective soft tactics that they have is to tell the parent in the beginning of the investigation that they (the acs workers) doesn't even know why they are there and the investigation " should be closed soon."  This has the affect of putting the parent at ease. Then, the ACS worker will return to the home and state that their " supervisor" has told them they must take services from ACS or face a case being filed against them in family court. This scenario can vary a little but the outcome is always the same. The parent cannot understand how the case went from being closed to the parents having to do services. These tricks used by ACS workers are akin to the used car salesman using his "manager" as a higher authority. Unfortunatey, we are dealing with the safety of children and the rights of parents. The goal o...

THE CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER INTERVIEW AND ITS HORRORS

ACS workers have a very powerful tool against parents in child abuse investigations. When an ACS workers interviews a child and is not given the answers that will allow him to charge the parents with child abuse, they will conduct a Child Advocacy Center interview. The process is as follows. The child is taken to a CAC center, where an "expert" interviewer will browbeat the child into admitting that the parents did something. As soon as a child says anything negative about the parent, the interview stops and the parent will be charged with child abuse. This is done to children as young as four. The interviews are recorded and presented in court. The interviewer is usually a recent college grad who has been given clear instructions to try and get "something" on the parents. To view some of these interviews is truly shocking. If a child says nothing happened he is not believed. If a child lies about various issues its put down as kid talk. The only thing that matters...

WHY ACS WORKERS DO NOT SPEAK TO LAWYERS

ACS workers have a simple policy. They refuse to communicate with lawyers hired by parents. Why not? ACS workers will claim that the case is not in court and there is no need for them to speak to lawyers. In fact, any ACS investigation can end up in court thus the need for an attorney. The truth of the matter is that ACS workers will try to attack and undermine parents at every step of the way. An attorney puts an end to this. If you have been contacted by an ACS worker call our hotline at 917-519-8417 and fight back. BROOKLYNACSLAWYER.COM STATENISLANDACSLAWYER.COM QUEENSACSLAWYER.COM

CAN I RECORD THE ACS WORKER?

This is a common question that we receive from parents. The answer in most cases is yes. Once you allow an ACS worker into your home, you can record and not tell the worker. If you ask the ACS worker, they will lie and tell you that it is not legal in order to intimidate the parent. ACS workers do not record parent interactions in any way. This allows them to claim that the parents made statements that they did not make. Acs workers will also claim that the investigation will end in 60 days. This is also untrue. The ACS investigation ends when the ACS worker says it does. Be mindful that most ACS worker are extremely rude and unprofessional and very poorly trained. Always stand up for your rights as a parent. FIGHTACS.COM BROOKLYNACSLAWYER.COM

HOW ACS TALKS TO YOUR CHILDREN WITHOUT YOUR PERMIISSION

The ACS worker has a very powerful tool in her arsenal. In order to obtain secrets access to your children, they will pull your child out of class in their school. This happens most often at NYC public schools. The DOE has a policy that gives ACS free reign over your children. Thus, the ACS worker will interview your child in private and ask her or him all sorts of questions. This can be very upsetting to a child who has never met the worker and has no way to defend themselves. WHAT CAN YOU DO? Once you are aware that ACS has been called on you, realize that they will go to your school. The first thing is to advise your child, not to speak to strangers. Second, you must advise the school officials in writing that you do not want anyone speaking to your child without you present. NYC DOE will not help you.

THE FRUSTRATION OF A PARENT TRYING TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST AN ACS WORKER

The most amount of calls that our office receives is from parents who want to file a complaint against the ACS worker. The ACS Advocates Office website claims to help parents, they can be found here. The website actually informs parents of what they will NOT do: Once a parent contacts the office, a recorded message tells them to contact the ACS worker's supervisor. Thus, all parents get from ACS is a recording telling them to call ACS. This is the dysfunction that permeates this entire agency. Understand that the Office of Advocacy cannot Challenge or attempt to influence a Judge’s decision in your case Conduct our own investigation of an active Child Protective case If the Office of Advocacy cannot help you directly, we will direct you to people who can help.   " Thus, if you have an abusive and rude ACS worker, this office will not help you. In fact, this Office which is supposed to help parents tells them to go speak to an attorney. What to do if yo...

"CPS" Star Star Star Star Star Current Employee - CPS  in  New York, NY Doesn't Recommend I have been working at NYC Administration for Children's Services full-time (More than 3 years) Pros Pros are making a difference in clients lives and the opportunity to work overtime for extra income. Cons The down side is the documentation, hostile clients, sitting in court all day to file a case, the hours, the pay should be more for the amount of work. Also if a child dies the media is quick to turn to ACS rather than the actual murderer and the family who had frequent contact with the child.
