THE POLITICS OF ACS

As we have seen too many times in our city, ACS fails to protect kids. Dozens of children have died under ACS supervision. Why does this happen? Why is no one held accountable? These are all political questions. The first answer is that ACS is controlled by the Mayor. Every NYC mayor has ignored the agency expect when they throw money at it when a child dies. The ACS budget is now $2.9 billion and growing. Second, ACS has not had effective leadership in many decades. Turnover at ACS is alarming. In many cases, the ACS attorney quits right in the middle of the case. Third, ACS workers are not given the proper training and guidance. ACS workers are taught to find something on the parents. So it becomes a situation where ACS workers are trying to force parents into services so the ACS workers can claim that they have helped a family.

The fact is that ACS workers do not want o help troubled children who are in real need. Why should they? They are paid the same no matter what children they help. From an ACS workers perspective it is easier to attack a good family the to help a troubled one. Also, with the rapid gentrification of NYC there is less need for social services. This leaves ACS workers looking for targets. This is especially true in Manhattan and Southern Brooklyn where incomes are very high.

There does not seem to be any solution to reforming ACS. Billions of dollars are pumped into this failed agency and children keep dying and innocent families keep getting attacked. The most important thing you can do to protect your family is NOT speak to the ACS worker and call an attorney as soon as you can.

THE DANGER OF THE ACS HOME VISITS

The bulk of the street level work that ACS does is the home visit. ACS workers take this opportunity to attack the parents in any ay that they can. Initially the ACS worker will demand that the parents not record them. They will actually give you orders in your own home. Do not allow them to do this. By: LAW OFFICES OF MICHAEL DISCIOARRO BRONX, N.Y.  -  June 8, 2022  -  PRLog  -- "These facts are so outrageous they need to be judged by a jury." Mr. Discioarro said. In  new lawsuit in the case of  X.J v ACS ,  ACS  filed a petition of neglect against and innocent mother, removed her child who had special needs, only to dismiss the case three days after it was filed.
