WHY HAVE I BEEN INDICATED FOR CHILD ABUSE?

Once an Acs worker receives a case, they will give parents a notice that they are under investigation for child abuse. If the ACS worker does not find enough evidence that warrant filing a Family Court case against the parents, they will "indicated" the parents for child abuse. This means that the case is referred to OCFS for a hearing. This is often devastating to parents. This can be especially troubling to parents who are healthcare professionals, or work in child care. In order to remove the indication, the parents will be put through hearing at OCFS. Most troubling is when most parents receive the reports they are shocked as to what they are accused of.

ACS workers indicate the vast majority of parents on trumped up charges. Once the worker indicates the parent, they simply walk away and offer no help to the parent in any way. Each year, tens of thousands of New York parents are put through this. The most important thing a parent can do once they have been contacted by an ACS worker is NOT speak to them. Stand on your rights and contact an attorney as soon as possible. Our hotline is always open, 917-519-8417.

THE DANGER OF THE ACS HOME VISITS

The bulk of the street level work that ACS does is the home visit. ACS workers take this opportunity to attack the parents in any ay that they can. Initially the ACS worker will demand that the parents not record them. They will actually give you orders in your own home. Do not allow them to do this.
