WHAT HAPPENS AT AN ACS CHILD SAFETY CONFERENCE

Once ACS starts an investigation against parents, they often call the parents into a child safety conference. This isa process where ACS can deeply interrogate the parents and try and manufacture a case against them. ACS will have the ACS worker their with their supervisors and a person who will call themselves a "facilitator". They may also have a parent "advocate" present. Attorneys are NOT allowed to attend as per ACS policy. Even of the parents hire one before the conference.

Once the conference starts, the ACS worker will begin by discussing the ACS "concerns". The parent will then be asked to give their side of the story. This is an opportunity for ACS to dig into the parents lives and try and manufacture charges against them. There is fair amount of "good cop, bad cop" with one ACS worker being the good cop and the supervisor usually plays a bad cop. the conferences usually last 2- 3 hours and this is the time ACS can put a lot of pressure on parents. The goal of ACS workers is to stress parents to the point that they will comply with ACS demands. If a parent disagrees with ACS, the ACS worker will threaten them with "court intervention." This is nothing more than a thinly veiled threat to remove your child to foster care. If you have been called to a safety conference call an ACS attorney immediately. THE DANGER OF THE ACS HOME VISITS

The bulk of the street level work that ACS does is the home visit. ACS workers take this opportunity to attack the parents in any ay that they can. Initially the ACS worker will demand that the parents not record them. They will actually give you orders in your own home. Do not allow them to do this.
