First of all you should be polite. ACS workers are often rude, arrogant and untrained. The easiest way to handle them is to speak in a calm respectful tone and ask what the worker wants. If the worker appears at your home, do not open the door. Even if the police arrive, you have the right to keep your door closed. If the police claim to have a warrant, ask to see it. If they do not have a warrant, tell them you will not let them in and you want to speak to an attorney before your speak to them. DO NOT make any statements to ACS or the police. The ACS worker will try to bully you into speaking to her/him. Do not fall for it. The goal of the ACS worker is to claim that the parent is abusing the child so they can keep their caseload up and make it appear that they are doing their jobs so they keep getting funding.
